What are body and face lift procedures?

Facial and body rejuvenation treatments are a popular procedure nowadays to help regain a more youthful overall look. There are procedures available that can help reduce your wrinkles, reduce blemishes and tighten skin. Some of these procedures are non-invasive and can only take 10-15 minutes, while other, more invasive procedures can take a few hours. For the purposes of this article we will be focusing on some of the more invasive and non-liquid facelift and body procedures. Here is some more information on non-invasive cosmetic treatments for face, and bodyUnlike fillers and botox that volumize or enhance features of the face or body, face and body lift surgeries are procedures that focus on either moving or repositioning skin to create a stretched skin effect that is essentially tighter. The result is to reduce the sagging appearance of the cheeks, jawline, neck and other areas of the body.

What are the different types of facelift and body lift procedures?

  • A facelift surgery or rhytidectomy is a surgical cosmetic procedure wherein flaps on each side of the face are pulled back, after which, any excess skin is removed. Fundamentally, a facelift is the repositioning of tissue underneath the skin called Superficial Musculo-Aponeurosis System (SMAS).  Deep Plane SMAS Facelift where the layer underneath the SMAS layer of the skin is released and repositioned without any tension. A more sophisticated version of this technique is the High SMAS Facelift.
  • Mini facelift, Minimal Access Cranial Suspension (MACS) lift, thread lift, or “lunchtime facelift” is the least invasive facelift procedure where shallow incisions are made along the hairline and pulling and correcting saggy skin. Another type of the mini facelift, coined by the pattern of the incision is the S-Lift facelift. The results from this procedure can last upto 2 years.
  • A neck lift or platysmaplasty, is often performed with a facelift surgery and similarly, skin is repositioned and tightened.

An upper body lift includes the arms (brachioplasty), breast (mastopexy), and back.

  • Arm lift or brachioplasty is a surgical procedure where an incision is made either under the armpit or back of the arm and excess skin is removed.
  • Breast lift or, mastopexy, is a surgical procedure where incisions are made around areola and breasts wherein the nipples are repositioned higher on the breast and excess skin is removed.
  • Back lift is a surgical procedure where incisions are made in the middle and lower back and excess skin is removed.

Similar to lower body lifts, upper body lifts can be also performed in parallel with liposuction to reduce fat.

A lower body lift is usually done in parallel with a liposuction and includes: abdomen (tummy tuck or abdominoplasty), groin, waist, thigh and buttocks all in one full procedure.

How can I find the right body and face lift procedure for me?

Finding the right surgeon(s) determines everything

A surgery result does not depend on the reputation of a clinic. Ultimately, it is the expertise of the surgeon that determines the outcome. Nothing can replace the skillful hands of a surgeon who has deep insight into the human body and a patient’s aspiration.

Research the credentials, portfolio, and other patients’ reviews of the surgeon(s)

It is difficult for a patient to evaluate the skill of a surgeon. However, there are some standard checklists you should apply to choose the right surgeon.

  • First, they should be certified (plastic) surgeons from trustworthy institutions.
  • Second, check if they have excellently performed surgery for a similar case as yours. You may check their portfolio online or get it upon request to the clinic.
  • Third, search up what other patients say about the surgeon that you shortlisted. Platforms like DrFive.com could be a good starting point for your research.

Know your budget and schedule

Most plastic surgeries are elective treatments. In other words, they will not be covered by your health insurance and you need to pay for the entire treatment. Depending on a few factors we will explain below, there are quite big differences in the treatment costs and you need to ensure that treatments from your shortlisted providers are within your budget. Don’t forget to determine when you want to get the surgery prior to contacting clinics. Most sought-after plastic surgeons have a very tight schedule and the next available slots may only open up far beyond your availability. Having a clear timeline can prevent unnecessary last minute surprises.

What are the driving factors for the different prices of body and face lift treatments in Dubai?

Qualifications of the practitioner

Medical groups in Dubai are diverse and numerous. Physicians come from different schools of thought and each gives their own perspective on the best treatment options. Some of these doctors are board certified from the UK, Europe or USA, while others have regional qualifications. All of whom possess a knowledge base with a specific set of training and practical knowledge.

Brand awareness of the clinic

Treatments from more reputable hospitals will usually be costlier than clinics not widely known to people. Institutions make huge investments to build a trusted brand and we, as the end-consumers, are expected to, in return, pay a premium for that brand. Certain local clinics in Dubai have established a history of providing excellent care to people, and in turn, are more expensive than new entrants in the cosmetic treatment field.

Experience of the practitioner

It is quite understandable that you pay more for a service from a more experienced practitioner. For cosmetic procedures, you will usually need to pay more to get treatment from consultants rather than specialists, GPs and other physicians, as they have more expertise and experience in the field.
