Dubai , UAE - DrFive interviews UAE's only female vascular surgeon, Dr. Deena Al Qedrah, also the recipient of the 2014 prestigious Dubai Excellence Award presented by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

In our first interview with Dr. Deena, she gives us her recommendations for young Emirati female doctors looking to develop a successful career in specialized medicine. She emphasized that women patients in this part of the world are usually more comfortable seeking out female doctors for vascular consultations, and treatments. Dr. Deena often times sees female patients driving in from as far away as Fujairah for a consultation, and treatment at her Dubai-based clinic. In her ongoing commitment to the development of young Emirati doctors in UAE,  Dr Deena voiced her support to train, oversee, and nurture the development of those doctors.

In the second part of our interview with Dr. Deena, She proactively tackles an ongoing, and serious health issue in the UAE. Dr. Deena periodically sees many patients suffering from Diabetes, and in serious, more developed cases, Gangrene/Diabteic foot.

Diet, blood-sugar levels,  healthy lifestyle, and smoking are all major factors Dr. Deena has indicated as potentially influential in controlling Diabetes, and Peripheral Vascular Diseases.
