Dr. Cara Outar has joined ACPN from the United Kingdom where she worked as a Clinical Psychologist in the National Health Service (NHS). She completed her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology in 2014 at the University of Birmingham, UK, which is part of the Russell Group of Universities. She also obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Criminology from Coventry University, UK, in 2004. Both degrees are accredited by the British Psychological Society. Dr. Outar remains a licensed Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) in the United Kingdom.
Dr. Outar has several years? experience in the mental health field, working with both adults and children across a range of settings. Since qualifying, Dr. Outar has worked in perinatal mental health with mothers experiencing mental health problems during the antenatal and postnatal period. She has also worked in a specialist team, providing assessment and therapy for adults diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder.
Most recently, Dr. Outar has worked as a Clinical Psychologist with adults with a range of common mental health problems in a multi-disciplinary mental health team in the UK.
Dr. Outar specializes in working therapeutically with adults with mental health problems including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, stress management, trauma, and emotion regulation and interpersonal difficulties. She is trained to work with a range of psychological approaches including Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is an Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) practitioner. She often uses an eclectic approach in her work tailored to individual need.
