Introduction to Dr. Adnan Tahir
Growing up in Manchester surrounded by doctors, Dr Adnan had the opportunity from a very young age to be influenced by clinical medicine and was unsurprisingly fascinated by the complexity of the human body as a child. He decided to opt for Plastic and Reconstructive surgery as it offers solutions to complex clinical problems, as well as offering hope to patients when they most need it.
Having worked in the medical field since 1999, Dr Adnan is now a Board Certified Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon with a special interest in aesthetic surgery of the face and breast. He has 14 years’ experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery and his clinical interests include skin cancer, breast reconstruction, hand surgery and burns. He initially worked in Burns and Cancer reconstruction and found it extremely rewarding to have helped people when they needed it most. However in the last few years, due to work life balance, he performs mostly aesthetic procedures. He truly believes he is in the business of making people feel happy about themselves and therefore his favourite procedures are breast augmentation and breast reduction as it creates an immediate positive impact on patient’s lives. Dr Adnan has performed numerous comprehensive breast reconstructions including free tissue transfer, making him one of the best breast reconstructive surgeons in the Middle East for patients who have had surgery for breast cancer including mastectomy.
Due to his excellence in reconstructive surgery, Dr Adnan was awarded DAFPRS fellowship (Dutch Association of Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery) in 2014 and spent 3 months at one of the biggest tertiary hospitals in Rotterdam, Netherlands gaining hands on experience in Craniofacial/ microsurgery techniques, which he is now practicing at Euromed clinic.
In the course of his exceptional career in plastic and reconstructive surgery, Dr Adnan has performed more than 5000 operations, including more than 600 aesthetic and massive weight loss procedures. His diverse range of plastic and cosmetic surgery disciplines includes hand surgery, trauma and burns, skin cancer, head and neck reconstructions, clefts, and general paediatric and adult plastic surgery procedures.
A passionate surgeon, he spends most of his time educating patients about the complex nature of plastic surgery and ensuring they have realistic expectations. He believes the ability to make a difference to people’s lives and make them happy is priceless, and feels privileged to be able to do this maintaining highest professional standards of Plastic Surgery. Within the next ten years, Dr Adnan intends to get involved in charitable work to help the most needy who don’t have the means to afford health care and more importantly, pass on the valuable knowledge and skills he has acquired in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery to local doctors working in these difficult situations so that he can help as many people as possible.
Dr Adnan successfully completed MSc in Surgical Sciences at the University College of London after a successful submission of his postgraduate thesis in the field of Tissue Engineering. He subsequently presented his findings at the European Tissue Engineering Society meeting in Munich, Germany.
Throughout his career, Dr Adnan has published numerous articles in peer reviewed journals in plastic surgery and presented at scientific meetings on many occasions.
