Dr. Omowunmi Braithwaite joined the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the American Hospital in January 2010. Before her appointment in Dubai, she was a senior substantive consultant in London where she had a large practice at North West London Hospitals NHS Trust and was the head of emergency Gynaecology , Gynaecology ultrasound and lead clinician for Obstetrics. She also had a large private practice at the prestigious Harley Street in London.
Dr. Braithwaite qualified in 1986 and also has a B.Sc degree in Human Physiology. She trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the South West London rotation obtaining her membership in OBGYN (MRCOG) from the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1995. Dr. Braithwaite then did a post membership training in Gynaecology Ultrasound scan with Professor Davor at Kings College Hospital London. She obtained her certificate of specialist training in OBGYN in 1999 and was awarded the fellowship by the Royal College in 2007.
Dr. Braithwaite had 10 years experience as a substantive consultant in London before arriving in Dubai. She also has extensive experience in obstetrics and gynaecology having carried out thousands of ultrasound scans, operations and deliveries. She has participated in research in her field and given several lectures in her field. While she was in London she taught students from Imperial medical school, the largest medical school in the UK. She is a well-respected world-renowned OBGYN specialist.
Dr. Braithwaite sees patients with a wide range of gynaecological problems such as ectopics, bleeding during pregnancy, early pregnancy ultrasound scans and fibroids screening for ovarian cancer, to name a few. She also runs a busy obstetrics practice delivering babies, including high risk pregnancies on a daily basis.
Dr. Braithwaite is the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at the American Hospital Dubai.

Incredible Dr. with serious skill and experience
I had all three of my babies with Dr. Braithwaite. She is absolutely no nonsense but an absolutely incredible doctor. I dont need a cuddle when I am having a baby - I need a serious doctor who knows what she is doing. Dr. B saved me from c- section (while many other doctors love to turn to it) using skill that every doctor Ive met since did not believe really happened. If you want a doctor to snuggle with, go somewhere else. If you want safe, experienced hands, Dr. Braithwaite is the best.

Shocked and disappointed
Im shocked by her terrible bedside manner. She was incredibly condescending, and didnt even do a pelvic exam (but still prescribed medicine). How is that allowed?

No bla bla, great professional
She was very straight to the point, which gave me much confidence to stop making a fuzz about everything as a first time mum and be practical... my husband liked her style and agreed that she was great for me, to keep me calm and focused. I highly recommend her

The best in Dubai If not UAE. I love her
The best in Dubai If not UAE. Straight to the point, I love her old school ways of not scanning your baby every visit. She just checks the heartbeat and measures ur tummy , thats it! No need to stress or panic.. just like the old days where almost delivered healthy babies. 24 hours of labor , I almost gave up on vaginal birth.. she was the one who encouraged me to be patient. The best advice I got and Im so glad I did, my crevice opened within two hours and few pushes my baby was out .

Dr. Braithwaite really needs to work on
Dr. Braithwaite really needs to work on her bedside manners. She is very condescending and comes across as downright rude. I have never had that sort of interaction with a medical professional before and changed to a different doctor after my second appointment with her.
