Dr Samy Zakout completed his Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery (M. B. B. Ch.) from Al Fateh University, Tripoli, Libya (1996) followed by UK qualifications including MRCP in 2007, MRCP (Rheumatology) in 2011, CESR (Rheumatology) in 2015, and Doctor of Medicine (MD, Rheumatology) from University of Bristol in 2015.

Dr Samy Zakout?s vast rheumatology experience was based in the United Kingdom with the previous post as a Consultant Rheumatologist, Weston Area Health NHS Trust, Honorary Senior Lecturer, University of Bristol (2015 - 2019), His specialist past training as a Specialist Registrar occurred in Southmead Hospital, Bristol (2013 ? 2015) and Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, Gloucester (2011 ? 2013). He had undertaken research as a Clinical Research Fellow, University Hospitals Bristol (2008-2011) and then was awarded a doctoral degree in rheumatology. He had previously worked as a Rheumatology and General Medicine LAT (locum appointment of training) SpR, St Mary?s Hospital, Isle of Wight (2007-2008).

Dr Samy Zakout's clinical experience prior to rheumatology included General and Respiratory Medicine as a Trust Registrar, St Mary?s Hospital, Isle of Wight (2004-2007). In addition, Dr Samy Zakout has overseas experience as a General Medicine resident doctor, Shifa Hospital, Gaza, Palestine (2002-2003), Critical Care senior doctor, Shifa Hospital, Gaza, Palestine (1996-2002) and Intern doctor in medicine and surgery, Tripoli University Hospitals, Libya (1995-1996).

Dr Samy Zakout has numerous research publications under his name including ?A clinical study to investigate the influence of Etanercept on fatigue in rheumatoid arthritis and how it correlates with cytokines?, ?Circadian Variations in Cytokines and the Effect of Timed Release Tablet Prednisone in PMR?,
?Cellular Source of Interleukin-6 in PMR?, ?PMR Treatment and Diagnosis? and ?Outcomes of Importance for Patients with PMR?.

Throughout his work in rheumatology, he have expanded his experience in this area by attending over 50 courses covering a broad spectrum including management skills, workshops and general knowledge. He also has over 15 publications to his credit. He has attended national and international congresses organized by British Society of Rheumatology, American College of Rheumatology (ACR) and European League against Rheumatism (EULAR). He has had numerous presentations at local, regional, national and international levels.

Dr Samy Zakout provided peer review on ?Update on the management of giant cell arteritis? in the Journal Therapeutic Advances in Chronic Diseases, ?Soft connective tissue calcification: new approaches to an old problem? and ?The effects of TNF inhibitors on the structural damage in patients with rheumatoid arthritis? in the European Medical Journal.

Dr Samy Zakout had undertaken an additional role as an academy lead, tutor and examiner for third year medical students at the University of Bristol, UK (2015 ? 2019) for which he was given the 'Best Teacher Award' for 3 consecutive years.
