Dr. Josy Panikulam is a DHA Licensed specialist in Internal Medicine with 23 Years of Experience in Internal Medicine as a Consultant Physician at different hospitals in India. He has had extensive experience in managing Cardiac emergencies, Respiratory diseases and tropical diseases apart from the common life style disorders and Endocrinopathies.
Dr. Josy completed his MBBS from the Govt. Medical College, Calicut, in 1987. During his academic period, he was elected to the College Union as the Secretary of Social Service League in 1983-84. After graduating, he underwent 1 year Senior Horsemanship in Pediatrics at Jubilee Mission Hospital, Thrissur and the worked as Resident Medical Officer in Surgery at Sacred Heart Hospital, Pullur, Irinjalakuda. He completed his MD in General Medicine in 1993 from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India (Mangalore University). During his post-graduate training, he submitted his dissertation titled “Role of Closed Pleural Biopsy in the Aetiological Diagnosis of Pleural Effusion” under the Guidance of Prof B.M. Hegde and Prof Joe Varghese. He worked for a short term as a Physician at Alphonsa Hospital Karukutty, Angamaly, and St Joseph’s Hospital Kothamangalam until he joined St. Joseph’s Hospital Choondal, Thrissur in 1996 as a Consultant Physician and Head of a Medicine Unit. He took the initiative in setting up an 8 bedded Intensive Care Coronary Unit, which was the first one of its kind in that region.
He came across many cases of Multidrug-resistant Typhoid during his practice there, as it was a known endemic area for Typhoid. He took steps to control the Typhoid endemic successfully. He also served as the Blood Bank Officer at St Joseph’s Hospital. He was an active member of IMA, Kunnamkulam Branch. After serving as the Auditor of the Branch for 1 year, he was elected as the Treasurer of IMA, Kunnamkulam. He joined Aster as a General Physician and has been working with Aster Clinic Al Muteena since 2003.
